January 2022: Fire Roasted Coffee Co.
Secret Sip Coffee Club is pumped to ring in the new year with January’s secret roasting partner. We thought it appropriate to select a roaster that hits close to home and really produced a beautiful and “comfy” coffee as our team tasters described it for this snowy month. Nestled in London, Ontario with a very personable and friendly team that certainly knows their craft, is Fire Roasted Coffee Company!
Fire Roasted is committed to high quality, sustainable and ethically sourced coffee. They only work with suppliers and distributers who source beans in an ethical and sustainable manner. The team’s suppliers also have a relationship with ECOTIERRA to offset carbon emissions for the transportation of coffees from their place of origin to Canada.
The team does this really unique art share project wherein they feature an artist that designs the labels for the specific micro-lots they bring in. We loved this concept and as they indicate “Our head roaster has expertly selected and roasted each of these to accentuate their unique flavour and character. We are featuring the works of a local artist on every bag, a portion of the proceeds of every sale goes to the featured artisan. We will be rotating through local artists every month.”
January’s secret roast is described by the team as:
For cold snowy mornings by the fireplace or warm summer nights by the campfire, Fireside is coziness in a cup! Whether you’re swaddling up in a fuzzy blanket while reading the latest bestseller or roasting marshmallows and listening to the cackle of the firewood, this coffee blend will make it memorable!
Fireside is a medium roast coffee that is smooth and chocolatey with notes of caramel. We used beans from Brazil and Guatemala and roasted them to a medium level to mimic the comfort of a tame campfire.
