March 2017's Roaster of the Month: Calibre Coffee
It is with the utmost pleasure that Secret Sip Coffee Club introduces March’s secret roaster operating out of Regina, Saskatchewan. This roaster caught our eye primarily due to their testament to small batch artisanship and meticulous attention to detail.
Caliber Coffee Roasters was established in 2013 when Kyle Chalupiak and Desmond Mulvey decided to apply their 30 years of combined coffee industry experience to roasting. Today, Caliber helps bring specialty coffees from skilled producers all over the world to coffee drinkers in cafes and homes across Saskatchewan. A 12-kilogram Probat roaster allows this dynamic duo to ensure that all of the roasts bear the markings of true small-batch craftsmanship.
The secret roast itself is the coveted Caliber-House Espresso which embodies notes of nuts, sweet chocolate, subtle bassy fruit and a full rich body complemented by a velvet mouth feel. The blend consists of 100% Arabica beans which distilled by origin results in one washed natural South American bean, a natural Ethiopian and a wet-hulled Indonesian.
