April 2025: Rebel Bean (Jitterbug Blend)

Secret Sip Coffee Club is thrilled to announce April’s roasting partner: Rebel Bean, an Okotoks Alberta roaster known for its creativity, innovation, and rebellious approach to traditional coffee. This collaboration brings together craftsmanship and character in one irresistible blend — the aptly named “Jitterbug.”

Founded by a small collective of baristas and artists, Rebel Bean started as a pop-up concept designed to challenge conventions about what coffee could be. Today, it operates a full-scale roastery, producing blends that are bold, energetic, and full of personality.

The Rebel Bean ethos centres on sustainability and inclusivity. They work closely with importers who promote women-led cooperatives and environmentally responsible farms, ensuring every bean tells a story of fairness and care. Their roasting process is guided by meticulous attention to detail, but never at the expense of creativity.

The Jitterbug Blend features beans from Central and South America, grown between 1,300 and 1,800 MASL. Roasted to a medium-dark level, it presents a classic espresso profile with tasting notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and roasted pecan, followed by a smooth, lingering finish. Whether enjoyed as a cappuccino or a long pour-over, this blend delivers energy and sophistication in equal measure.
